Clearly you can never out stage Kanye West on
any platform. Even with the Miley-Nicki public exchange of jabs and
Justin Biebers much anticipated return to the VMA stage, king Yeezus
still managed to drop the mic on all of that!
West
was awarded the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at this year’s MTV
VMAs and in a twist of fate was handed the award by Taylor Swift (who
he interrupted during her acceptance speech at the 2009 VMAs). He went
on to commend Taylor for her graciousness about the whole incident and
what followed was a very passionate and long speech from Yeezus
addressing, well, everything.
He admitted to taking something before the
ceremony (to calm his nerves we guess) and while others felt his speech
was senseless and more of a rant he still managed to keep the crowd
roaring with applause throughout. Among other sentiments Kanye
announced, “Sometimes I feel like I died for the artists’ opinion.” And
just before he literally dropped the mic on everyone, Kanye publicly
declared, “As you probably could’ve guessed by this moment, I have
decided in 2020 to run for president.”
It’s
still unclear whether or not we can take his candidacy seriously –
after all, Donald Trump is also running for U.S. president currently and
that was a joke until it wasn’t – but we can definitely start
imagining. What do you think about Yeezus for president; let us now in
the comments below.
